Why Attend TxARM Team Training?
TxARM conducts Team Training each year for some specific reasons.  First, and foremost, it is a time of information and inspiration regarding the possibilities for ministry during the upcoming race season.  The information is related to very practical and basic items such as ministry location, dates, description of ministry activities and opportunities, etc.  And, the inspiration comes from the fellowship and from sharing the vision for Raceway Ministries that has been carried out at Texas Motor Speedway for the past 11 years and at other speedways across Texas and the United States.
In addition, the orientation helps volunteers understand the unique setting of outreach and evangelism in the context of the motor sports community and at the raceways where TxARM currently ministers in Texas.  There are some specific points of information that are very important, and there are some important "do's" and "don'ts" that volunteers need to understand as they relate to race fans, speedway staff and employees, and others in the racing business.
What Do We Do at the Team Training Event?
TxARM Team Training will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a time of informal fellowship, allowing volunteers who have worked with us before to visit and catch up on family & church news, etc., and allowing newcomers an opportunity to get to know some of the folks who have worked with us for a while.  When the Orientation formally begins, we will start with some music and video that will set the pace for our purpose: "Evangelistic ministry to the fans at Texas Motor Speedway and at other raceways."  Introductory words and welcome then will be followed by a variety of activities, including: a brief history of TxARM ministry, introduction of the leadership team, some "Raceway Ministry 101" instruction, a look at calendar dates for the year, introduction of those who minister at weekly raceways across Texas, a detailed description of ministry activities and opportunities that will characterize the 2007 season at Texas Motor Speedway, and a time for volunteers to register and indicate preferred ministry activities.  Question and answer opportunities will be provided throughout the morning, as well as breaks.  The meeting then will close with a time of prayer.
Where Will Team Training Take Place?
Texas Motor Speedway is very gracious in allowing us to conduct TxARM Team Training each year at the Speedway, in the infield, in the Media Center.  Volunteers who will attend the training will need to enter through the South Tunnel entrance to the Speedway infield.  From Hwy. 114, turn into the Speedway property and head toward the tall buildings on the south end of the facility.  A gap between the buildings indicates the location of the south tunnel.  Proceed in that direction, and stop at the tunnel gate, and indicate to the attendant that you are there for the Raceway Ministries meeting.  You most likely will have to sign a release form before entering.  Proceed through the tunnel and along the road through the center of the infield until you come to a sign indicating that the "Media Center" is to your left.  Turn in there and proceed through the black iron fence gate to the Media Center and park!
Currently, a construction project is underway in the South Tunnel area.  So, you may be directed to the North Tunnel for entrance.  If so, follow the detour signs and follow the same procedure for entering through the North Tunnel.
What Do I Need to Bring?
The most important thing to bring is yourself, an open mind, a willing heart, a love for the Lord, and a love for people.  By the way, bring a pen, too.  In addition, please know that TxARM volunteers will need to be appropriately dressed to work at race events at Texas Motor Speedway and at other raceways in Texas, which means you will need to purchase a TxARM cap or shirt or both.  Details will be explained at the orientation, and samples of the shirts will be on hand.  These items will be ordered after we have conducted orientation and have an idea of quantities.  Cost usually is $10 for the caps and around $10 for the shirts.  You might want to bring cash or a check book for these items.  In addition, there will be some other items on hand for you to purchase if you are interested--car window stickers/decals, custom TxARM dominoes, etc.
We Look Forward To Seeing You at the Spring 2009 TxARM Team Training--Last Saturday of February
